Welcome to our website! Depot Square Publishing has been in business since 1994, publishing books on northeastern railroad history while
offering a selection of complimentary titles from other transportation publishers.
The popular series, SCENES ALONG THE RAILS, takes a look at the pre-1925 era of railroading during the Golden Age of Steam. Using vintage illustrations and other
ephemera, the impact of railroads on the towns and villages served within a given region is portrayed. So far, this series has covered portions of northeast Pennsylvania,
the Lacakawanna, and the Rutland.
Our series, RAILROADS OVER TIME, debuted in October 2004. That is when we released the first title which covered the most scenic portion of Metro-North’s Hudson Division:
between Poughkeepsie and Oscawana, NY. Whereas SCENES ALONG THE RAILS shows what once was, RAILROADS OVER TIME brings the story full-circle. Antique black & white
photographs through contemporary color from largely unpublished sources are used to depict the evolution of a railroad from its inception through the modern age of steam,
diesel, and electric operations.
The ROADS, RIVERS AND RAILS series began in 2012 with the release of John Taibi’s The Delaware & Hudson’s Susquehanna Division Heritage Trail, Volume 1:
Albany/Schenectady to Oneonta. From early stereoviews to contemporary color, the relationship between the three modes of parallel transportation is explored
on a point-to-point basis.
We manufacture all of our own books in the United States of America.
RETAIL STORE
Depot Square Publishing also offers an extensive variety of books on railroads, trolleys, canals, mining, and logging. We specialize in small press, privately published,
university, and historical society products but carry items from larger publishers too. We would be happy to special order any book currently in print as well as assist
you with locating rare and out-of-print titles. We actively seek submissions from other publishers for our consideration.
